I’ve been wanting to try a build that doesn’t require any specializations for the mage class, and this was the result. This build takes spells in every mage tree (Spirit, Storm, Inferno, and Winter) with the aim of having access to a lot of different tools. (more…)
I’ve seen the Two-handed DPS Champion build being mentioned quite a bit so I decided to try it out for myself. This is arguably the easiest and most effective way to solo the game, although it does require you to be relatively high level (15+) to pull off. (more…)
Here’s a short and sweet guide to arguably the most powerful specialization/build in the game – the Knight-Enchanter Mage. This build will give you unrivaled damage and survivability. The basic idea behind this build is to constantly be generating barrier so that you never take damage, while dishing out massive amounts of DPS.
Note: For your 8th ability, you can either take Resurgence (Knight-Enchanter Focus skill) or use Mark of the Rift if you are playing this build on your Inquisitor. It is really up to you which skill you prefer – Resurgence is better for helping your party survive, while Mark of the Rift is better for pure damage.
- Activate Barrier either yourself, or from another mage.
- Get into melee range with enemies. You can also use Fade Step to do this, especially to reach ranged targets like archers and mages.
- Start spamming Spirit Blade, Fade Cloak, and Fire Mine. These are your 3 main abilities for this build – they all deal high damage, and help you generate even more barrier. Prioritize using Fire Mine first as it will deal the highest damage, especially with the Chaotic Focus passive.
- Use Dispel whenever necessary (IE, dispelling the green Rifts when demons are spawning to kill them instantly).
Points Spent: 18+
Inferno: Immolate / Flashpoint / Clean Burn / Pyromancer / Fire Mine / Chaotic Focus
Spirit: Barrier / Peaceful Aura / Guardian Spirit / Dispel / Rejuvenating Barrier
Winter: Fade Step
Knight-Enchanter: Spirit Blade / Combat Clarity / Fade Cloak / Decloaking Blast / Fade Shield / Knight-Protector
Storm: This tree is totally optional. If you have points left, then grab Energy Barrage + Conductive Current and Static Charge -> these two passives will make you deal even more damage
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates lately. University started back up and I’m also doing an internship this semester so I’ve been quite busy.
There’s one last specialization that I haven’t talked about yet in terms of builds, and that’s the Templar. Despite my early thoughts on this spec, it works far better with a two-handed weapon than with a shield and one-hander. (more…)
The Necromancer specialization is probably the weakest out of the 3 mage specs right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s not viable. Necromancers deal good sustained damage and also have a bunch of cool abilities and passives that make them fun to play, like Spirit Mark (resurrect enemies to fight for you) and Simulacrum. (more…)
