Dragon Age 4 2020 News: New Video Clips

It’s time for another update on the seemingly never-ending development for Dragon Age 4. There have been some new hints and reveals, more importantly from the June 2020 EA Play Live Event.

This streamed event included three short video clips from a Bioware project which appear to show the environment of Dragon Age 4. You can see those three clips in the video below (around 1:28).

While the video’s narrator Laura Miele (Bioware’s chief studio officer) does not mention Dragon Age by name, IGN title the video “Dragon Age and Battielfield Tech Teaser” so that’s all but confirming that the clips are indeed from Dragon Age 4.

Besides, the clips themselves have a very strong Dragon Age feel to them. They appear to show overgrowths of red lyrium, a special type of the lyrium ore found in the Dragon Age universe.

The architecture in the clips can also looks very familiar to what we remember from the previous DA games.

Finally, the narration mentions that “Bioware imagines and creates worlds where you become the hero of your own story, and we’re using this next generation of technology to make those fantasy worlds your reality.”

This is clearly referring to you taking the titular role of the hero in Dragon Age 4, where you will be free to make your own decisions to mold the storyline, which is one of the defining features of the Dragon Age games.

Red Lyrium & Solas (DA: I Spoilers)

You might remember that Solas, the elven companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, is believed to be the key antagonist of Dragon Age 4.

As a quick recap, Solas he reveals himself to be the “Dread Wolf,” the elven God who locked away his fellow Gods in the Fade after he was displeased with their actions.

At the end of DA: I’s Trespasser DLC, Solas implies that he wants to repair his actions by destroying the Veil that separates the Fade from the real world.

The 2018 teaser for Dragon Age 4 showcases Solas and the lyrium idol, which is made out of red lyrium. It’s probably not a coincidence that the video clips also show red lyrium.

Some theories suggest that the lyrium idol was used by Solas to create the Veil. Perhaps the appearance of red lyrium in the video clips signifies that the Fade and the real world in Dragon Age 4 are already merged?

Another speculation is that the red beating thing we see in the last clip is a Titan’s heart infected with red lyrium. What do you think? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

In any case, it’s nice to see more info coming out about Dragon Age 4, even if many of us are disappointed with how long Bioware is taking to release the game.
